Students translate their selected concept into a low-fidelity altar-in-a-box prototype using cardboard boxes, scrap paper, tracing paper, printed portrait drafts, colored pencils, glue, and labeled placeholders for meaningful objects. The teacher gives just-in-time reminders on layering, focal point, legibility, and safe tool use as students assemble a rough version that can be changed quickly. Each prototype must visibly include family tree structure, portrait placement, color choices, symbols, and at least two object labels tied to the loved one’s story.
