Students complete a short notebook entry using three Bernheim organism cards and one habitat card to decide which organism would survive well, survive less well, or not at all. They give feedback to 2 peers, receive feedback, and revise one explanation before turning it in. The teacher uses the revised entry as a milestone check for readiness to move into question-building next phase.
