Students will launch the investigation by examining a local pollution scenario, gathering firsthand evidence at the school gate with the security guard, and building an initial source map that connects pollutants, sources, and impacts while framing a testable next-step question for Phase 2.

Students will refine a testable local pollution question, justify a chemistry-based hypothesis, and produce a peer-reviewed investigation plan with methods, materials, data table, and evidence criteria before beginning major data collection.

Students will present their completed local pollution investigations to an authentic audience, defend their claims with source maps and test data, respond to community questions, and complete a final reflection on scientific understanding, collaboration, and next steps.
