Using their scenario card, school-gate notes, and first source map draft from the kickoff, teams compare possible air or water investigation questions and sort them into testable, too broad, or not measurable. The teacher models how available tools such as thermometers, beakers, filter paper, sand, gravel, activated carbon, and observation logs limit what can be investigated in school. Each team leaves with one final question and one hypothesis written in a clear if-because format in the Pollution Investigation Notebook.
