Students will enter the wilderness survival challenge through a Basecamp reveal, sort scientific clues with David Macander, and choose an evidence-based starting plan that defines the team problem, criteria, and constraints for the investigation work ahead.

Students will refine a focused survival investigation by studying how to ask testable questions, use science clues from ecology, geology, and astronomy, and build a fair-test plan with roles, variables, and evidence trackers. They will peer review methods, revise their plans, and complete a readiness checkpoint before moving into larger data collection and product development.

Students will finalize, defend, and present their Basecamp Survival Map and Strategy Presentation to an authentic audience, using evidence from their investigations and peer critique to explain how ecology, geology, and astronomy guided survival decisions.
