Students examine short excerpts from Justinian-related texts, launch sorting cards from Code Clash Court, and sample community rules to identify which questions are too broad, too narrow, or investigable. The teacher models how to turn a broad curiosity into a focused question and a tentative hypothesis using a question frame and a fairness-safety-power category chart. Students record one individual draft question and one possible claim in their Justinian Investigation Notebook.
