Using sample lines from student drafts and short mentor speech excerpts, the class studies how appeals, tone, and logical fallacies affect credibility and audience response. Students then revise their own outline and speaker notes by strengthening one ethical appeal, one evidence-based appeal, and one rebuttal while removing exaggeration, strawman reasoning, or unsupported assertions. Exit tickets ask students to name one place where their language persuades effectively and one place where it could become manipulative.
