Students create a rapid original visual response built around one word that captures the human impact of a WWI government decision, using graphite, marker, collage scraps, or watercolor. They must draw from at least two pieces of historical evidence already studied and add a short caption that names the chosen word and source connection. This first art-making task establishes how visual choices can communicate a researched interpretation.
