Students practice a shared routine for recording source title, source type, origin, date, direct observation, inference, and possible claim connection in their World War II Leader Investigation Notebook. The teacher models with one letter, one photo, and one newspaper clipping, then students complete two source-note entries using color-coded evidence tabs and citation slips. Younger students can draw what they notice and dictate inferences; older students add brief source reliability notes.
