Students spread out source notes, copied quotes, photos, and evidence cards from their investigation notebooks and sort them into categories such as leader motivation, wartime challenge, effect on soldiers, effect on civilians, and conflicting evidence. Teams use color-coded sticky notes, string, and a large chart paper matrix to mark patterns and anomalies, then add at least one cause-and-effect statement connected to the essential question. Younger students can sort picture cards and dictate ideas; older students can cluster evidence by theme and reliability.
