Using the gallery chart from day 1, the teacher models how to turn noticings into investigable questions about a WWII leader’s decision, motivation, or impact. Students draft a question on an index card or sketch card, then give feedback to 2 peers, receive feedback, and revise their question for clarity and focus. The teacher reviews revised cards as a milestone gate for readiness to move into source-based investigation in the next phase.
