After completing the family interview outside class, students bring notes or audio excerpts and sort evidence into an empathy map with sections for said, felt, feared, valued, and remembered. In small groups, they surface assumptions, separate direct interview evidence from personal interpretation, and cluster patterns across stories. The empathy map becomes the design evidence base for future canvas decisions.
