🧭 Ponyboy Evidence Plan Conference

Students use marked excerpts from The Outsiders, their Phase 1 notes, and a shared planning template to draft one focused question, a tentative hypothesis, and a coding scheme for tracking lines about loyalty, identity, and belonging. In pairs, they give feedback to 2 peers, receive feedback, and revise the plan by checking whether the method includes multiple chapters, dialogue/actions/relationships, and space for surprising or conflicting evidence. The final plan includes an evidence log format for the Character Investigation Notebook, a note about how one idea from the community center roundtable will be used to test interpretation, and 2-3 candidate lines that could later feed the found poem and performer’s note.
