Students examine short question cards tied to New England, the South, the Great Plains, Alaska, Hawaii, and other U.S. regions, then sort them into strong investigable questions and weak questions. The class models how to turn broad wonderings into a focused question using the essential questions, region maps, weather charts, and photo clues from the launch. Students record one focused question and one possible comparison region in their U.S. Regions Investigation Notebook.
