Students create an individual explanation page for their journal or research folder that combines a drawing, labels, and 3-4 dictated or written facts in logical order. They use sequenced language such as first, next, then, and last to explain how their animal, plant, or habitat feature fits the marsh and how people can help care for it. Teacher conferencing serves as a milestone check before students move into full writing and display work next phase.
