The class builds a shared model of how to record evidence in project journals using picture icons for source, observation, sketch, labels, sequence words, and wonderings. Students practice with a short shell or spartina seed observation, first noticing, then sketching, then labeling, then recording what they still wonder. They create a personal journal page template they can use during later evidence gathering.
