🛶 Salt Marsh Field Sketch Walk

Content Expertise Academic Mindset Effective Communication Submission Required

Students visit the marsh or take a short boat trip with clipboards, pencils, and a simple observation page to sketch what they notice in the habitat. A partner from DNR, Bears Bluff, Kiawah Conservancy, Charleston Aquatic, or Dill Sanctuary helps students closely observe plants, animals, shells, spartina, mud, water movement, and signs of human impact. Students pause for a movement-based notice-and-point routine, then record at least one sketch, one label, and one oral question about how people can help care for the marsh.
