In small teams, students turn their journal evidence into a problem statement for one cookbook recipe or recipe category using the frame: 'We need to design... so that... while...' Teams add measurable criteria and realistic constraints on a planning card, then give feedback to 2 peers, receive feedback, and revise. The teacher checks each final problem statement as a milestone gate before teams move to idea generation in the next phase.
