📚 Archive Source Detective Moves

Students examine a mini-set of library and archive materials from the Gold Rush, Dust Bowl, Bracero Program, Great Migration, and Old Hollywood, including letters, photographs, advertisements, and maps. They practice identifying source type, origin, audience, and purpose, then annotate what each item suggests about work, opportunity, image, or starting over in California. A short teacher think-aloud introduces corroboration and the difference between evidence and promotional language.
