Students will experience ecosystem survival through a fast card-game launch, notice how adaptations, habitat conditions, climate events, and human actions affect outcomes, and gather early user and expert evidence to shape the game they will design for younger learners.

Students will use evidence from the Survival Showdown launch, early user insights, and ecosystem science to define a focused design challenge for their Nature Shift card game. They will identify key adaptation, habitat, and human-impact patterns, then write and refine a team How Might We statement that guides later card, rule, and tournament kit design for younger players.
Days 3 - 4

Draft
Students will build a first playable version of their ecosystem card game by turning earlier research and ideas into prototype animal, plant, habitat, rule, and event cards, then using peer and expert feedback to revise for scientific accuracy, game balance, and clarity for younger players.
Days 8 - 11

Test
Students will test their ecosystem card game drafts through structured peer playtesting and community feedback, collect evidence about how well adaptations, natural selection, and human impacts are represented, and revise cards and rules based on what players observe, question, and experience during gameplay.
Days 12 - 14

Critique
Students will use structured critique to evaluate how well their Nature Shift card game models adaptation, natural selection, ecosystem balance, and human-caused change, then revise cards and rules using peer and wildlife partner feedback before the final reflection phase.
