Using field journal notes, sunlight and soil observations, and photos from the schoolyard, teams sort evidence into categories such as water, sunlight, soil, wildlife, and people use. The teacher models how to turn observations into criteria, constraints, and user needs with a shared anchor chart of habitat vocabulary. Teams complete a pocket forest evidence map that highlights the biggest site problems and opportunities for plants, animals, and visitors.
