The class opens with a fast design review using sample building cards for a hospital, school, police station, and apartments. A guest architect or building designer shares 2 practical constraints such as footprint limits, interior space needs, or occupant density, then students work in small groups to match each building purpose to a likely geometric form and estimate dimensions that fit the use. Groups create one quick poster-station draft for a selected building that includes purpose, dimensions, base area, surface area, volume, and a 1-sentence density or space-use justification, then give feedback to 2 peers, receive feedback, and revise their draft before posting an exit reflection on how the measurements support the building's job.
