🗺️ San Diego Water Needs Map

Content Expertise Effective Communication Academic Mindset Submission Required

Students use photo cards, a large neighborhood map, toy birds/insects, and picture icons for drains, plants, gravel, and soil to learn how living things and people use water spaces differently. The teacher models the sentence frames “needs,” “helps,” and “hurts,” then students place icons on the map and orally explain what each person, bird, insect, or patch of soil might need. Pairs finish by drawing one labeled need on a sticky note for the class evidence board.
