Students study their own faces in hand mirrors and practice quick sketches showing eyebrows, eyes, mouths, head tilt, and line quality for different emotions connected to school experiences. The teacher models how curved, jagged, thick, and light lines can change the feeling of a portrait. Students produce at least 3 labeled mini sketches on one practice page using pencil and black marker.
