🧠 Claim Map with Op-Art Evidence

Submission Required Grading Required

Students examine a curated source set of 2 counterculture images, 1 mainstream advertisement, and 2 short excerpts from criticism/history using an evidence log and CER claim-map template. After a brief teacher model of how to judge source credibility, visual evidence, and warrants, students take a position, sort evidence into supporting and challenging columns, identify the strongest counterevidence, and draft a main claim with 2 sub-claims tied to symbolism, repetition, contrast, color, or figure-ground reversal. They then give feedback to 2 peers, receive feedback on logical gaps or weak warrants, and revise the claim map before submitting it as the planning gate for the optical-art poster and critique.
