🧭 Intellect Instinct Position Sprint
Students move to a labeled corner for intellect, instinct, or both after a new survival scenario is read aloud, then use a shared evidence log and a CER planning card to draft a position statement with one cited moment from “A Sound of Thunder,” one from “Being Prey,” and one note from the ranger or wildlife biologist talk. The teacher gives a brief just-in-time mini-lesson on strong warrants, counterpoints, and source labels before students commit to a claim. Students then complete a partner poster or digital slide draft that compares the two texts, names one survival strategy, includes one text-based example, and adds one sentence showing how their thinking changed during discussion. Pairs do a fast critique round by giving feedback to 2 peers, receiving feedback, and revising with sticky notes or comment tools focused on logical gaps, weak evidence, and unclear reasoning.
