💡 Heart & Wheels Concept Sprint
In teams of 3–4, students begin with a rapid brainstorm, generating at least 15 different exhibit ideas in 7 minutes that could help festival visitors understand how biking changes the heart, lungs, and muscles. Teams then use a structured Crazy-8s sketch routine (fold paper into 8 boxes) to sketch 8 quick, different model ideas (e.g., pump heart with tubing, balloon lungs, pull-string muscle). Next, teams sort ideas using a simple decision matrix on chart paper rating each idea (1–3) for: helps users understand body systems, shows clear cause-and-effect during exercise, and is interactive for visitors. Teams select their top 2–3 ideas and create labeled concept sketches or short storyboards showing how a visitor would interact with the model step-by-step, noting which user needs and science concepts each feature addresses.
