Using the class chart, students brainstorm wonderings such as "Which garden vegetable makes the crunchiest snack?" or "Do more kids like sweet or bitter greens?" The teacher models how to turn a big wondering into a testable question that can be answered with class taste tests. Students draw and dictate or write their own focused question in their Garden Investigation Notebook and state a prediction using a sentence frame ("I think ___ because ___"). Partners share questions and give one suggestion to make it clearer before revising.
