💡 Water Pollution Solution Sprint

Critical Thinking & Problem Solving Effective Communication Content Expertise HS-LS2-7 HS-LS2-7 HS-ESS2-5 Submission Required

Teams begin with a 5-minute rapid brainstorm, generating at least 15 distinct ideas that address their previously defined “How Might We” statement tied to dissolved oxygen, pH, turbidity, phosphate levels, or biological oxygen demand. They then complete a structured SCAMPER round to push beyond obvious fixes (e.g., substitute materials, combine filtration + education, adapt natural wetlands models). Using a weighted decision matrix prioritizing user desirability and environmental impact, teams select their top 2–3 concepts. Each concept is developed into a labeled storyboard (4–6 frames) showing how a real user interacts with the solution and how it improves measurable water quality indicators. Teams conduct a brief critique round with another team (feedback on clarity, feasibility, and alignment to water data) and revise their top concept accordingly.
