Empathize
Empathize
Students will engage in direct user research to understand how real middle school peers experience historical storytelling, gathering interview evidence and creating an empathy map that will ground their future AAPI one-pager designs in authentic audience needs.
Day 1
Define
Define
Students will synthesize their user interview research into clear, evidence-based problem definitions that guide the design of their AAPI Heritage one-pagers, using affinity mapping, Point-of-View statements, and How Might We questions grounded in real peer insights.
Day 2
Ideate
Ideate
Students will generate a wide range of creative concepts for their AAPI Heritage one-pagers and interactive exhibit elements, grounding every idea in real user interview insights and converging on top concepts that directly address documented audience needs.
Day 3
Prototype
Prototype
Students will build and refine a testable prototype of their AAPI Heritage One-Pager, moving from a rapid low-fidelity draft to a higher-fidelity version based on structured peer and user feedback. They will document what they tested, what users said, and how specific revisions improve clarity, historical accuracy, and audience engagement.
Day 4
Test/Present
Test/Present
Students will validate their refined AAPI Heritage One-Pager prototypes with new users, document final feedback, and present a stakeholder narrative that traces their design journey from user research to iteration and exhibition readiness.
