Using molecular model kits and lattice diagrams, students examine representations of ionic lattices and covalent molecules. The teacher facilitates a mini-workshop on electron transfer vs. electron sharing, lattice energy, polarity, and intermolecular forces, explicitly connecting structure to melting point, solubility, and conductivity.
