🧪 Car Body Material Test Lab

In small groups, students test sample materials such as cardboard, aluminum foil, plastic sheet, craft sticks, foam, or fabric for mass, bend strength, water resistance, and estimated cost using balances, rulers, cups of water, and simple force tests. A short mini-lesson connects atomic structure, valence electrons, and bonding to visible material properties using particle models, the Periodic Table, and age-appropriate visuals. Groups record results in a shared data table and discuss which materials might fit different users and driving conditions.
