🧩 My Plant Experience Map

K-ESS3-1 K-LS1-1 K-ESS2-2 Reflection Essential Question Submission Required

Students create an individual picture-based user experience map showing their planted seed over time. The map includes: seed → sprout → taller plant, with arrows to sunlight and water, and one drawing of how a person helped (watering or planting). Students share with a partner, give feedback to two peers using picture prompts (clear arrows? correct needs?), and revise their maps.

2 Explain the activity where students will create a picture-based experience map of plant growth. Show an example map. (5 min)
3 Give students drawing materials and guide them to create their own maps starting with seed, sprout, and taller plant stages, adding arrows to show sunlight and water. (10 min)
4 Have students share their maps with a partner and give feedback using picture prompts such as checking arrows and needs. (5 min)
5 Encourage students to revise their maps based on feedback and add a drawing of how a person helped the plant. (5 min)
Preparation (3 items)
  • Create a visual anchor chart showing plant growth stages and arrows to sunlight and water.
  • Prepare drawing materials including paper, crayons, and picture prompts for feedback.
  • Set up space for sharing and feedback with enough room for partners to sit together.
Student-facing instructions
You will create a picture map showing how your planted seed grows from a seed to a taller plant. Draw arrows to show sunlight and water. Share your map with a partner and make sure your arrows are clear and your plant's needs are correct. After feedback, make changes and add a picture of how someone helped the plant, like watering.
