# What teachers do
1 Create excitement by showing plants collected during the Plant Adventure Walk. Discuss what students observed on the walk and what parts of the plant they think are important. (5 min)
2 Introduce the chart paper with headings 'Plants Need…,' 'Plants Change…,' and 'People Help By….' Explain what each heading means in relation to plants. (5 min)
3 Encourage movement as students transition to pairs or small groups to review notes and observations from the Plant Adventure Walk and agriculture workshop. (5 min)
4 Use sentence frames to help students share their ideas aloud, like 'Plants need water because…' or 'Plants change when…' Write down student contributions under the correct headings on the chart paper. (10 min)
5 Wrap up by asking students to share the most exciting thing they learned or observed about plants and add any key thoughts to the chart. (5 min)
Preparation (4 items)
  • Set up a large chart paper with three headings: 'Plants Need…,' 'Plants Change…,' and 'People Help By….'
  • Prepare sentence frames to support student discussions and ideas.
  • Collect plant samples from the Plant Adventure Walk as visual aids.
  • Organize interview notes, observations, and student plant journals for reference during the activity.
Student-facing instructions
Your task is to talk about the needs and changes of plants using your observations and interview notes. First, you will look at the plant samples and remember what you saw during our Plant Adventure Walk. Then, use the sentence frames to share your ideas with your classmates. Your goal is to help fill in the chart paper with what you think is important about plants.
