K-LS1-1 Assessment Reflection Essential Question Submission Required

Using a simple picture rubric (magnifying glass = observing, light bulb = explaining, hands planting = designing), students draw themselves as plant scientists and dictate one sentence for each icon. Teacher scribes statements such as “I used evidence when…” or “I changed my thinking about…”.

1 Sit in a circle with your plant journals and a pencil. (5 min)
2 Look at the pictures you drew in your plant journal. Think about how your plant has changed. (5 min)
3 Share with a partner what you noticed about how your plant grew and changed. (5 min)
4 Draw one more picture in your journal of what your plant looks like today. (5 min)
5 Think about the question, 'What do plants need to grow?' and write or dictate one sentence about it. (5 min)
6 Prepare to share your favorite part of being a plant scientist during our 'Plant Knowledge Fair'. (5 min)
