# What teachers do
1 Gather in groups and discuss the garden habitat model you have been working on. What changes did you make and why? (10 min)
2 Teacher and students identify and write down three key problems on the usability report: what was difficult for visitors to understand about the model? (5 min)
3 Discuss and decide what changes you made to your model to solve these problems. (5 min)
4 Complete the third box on the usability report: explain how your changes help understand plant needs and their environment. (5 min)
5 Take turns sharing your report with the whole class to practice presentation for the Plant Knowledge Fair. (5 min)
Preparation (4 items)
  • Prepare printed templates of the usability report with three boxes labeled: Problem, What We Changed, How It Helps.
  • Set up a communal workspace with tables to support group discussions.
  • Have colored markers and sticky notes ready for students to use during the brainstorming session.
  • Create anchor charts illustrating the parts of a usability report, with examples written in simple language.
Student-facing instructions
Gather with your group around your model. Discuss and decide what changes you made to improve it and why. Use the report template: draw what visitors couldn’t understand, draw what you changed, and then draw how it helps the plant meet its needs. Each team will present their reports to the whole class for feedback practice.
