In small groups, students revisit experiences from 'Communities Come Alive Day' and create a kid-friendly problem-definition kit. They produce a simple Point-of-View statement from a child’s perspective about how community helpers support daily life, several How Might We questions to explore ideas, easy persona cards for diverse helpers (illustrations with short captions), and a basic systems map showing how helpers connect to families in San Jose. The artifacts will be shared in a classroom gallery where peers and visitors can offer feedback to guide iteration, keeping the focus on user needs and real-life connections.

- Prepare circle space with enough room for all students to sit comfortably.
- Gather drawing supplies such as paper, crayons, markers, and pre-cut sample persona card templates.
- Create a simple anchor chart listing examples of community helpers to guide students.
- Set up a space on the wall or floor for the community map display.
Student-facing instructions
You will start by sitting in a circle and sharing stories about what you learned and liked about 'Communities Come Alive Day'. Then, with a partner, you'll draw a picture and write a sentence about one helper you learned about. After that, you'll use your information to create a card that shows what your helper does and what tools they use. Finally, you will help put everyone's drawings and cards together on a big map to show how helpers work in our community.
