Storyboard Concepts Workshop

Reflection Core Content Community Partners Essential Question Critique and Revision Submission Required

In this 90-minute session, you work in small groups to brainstorm multiple storyboard concepts that blend model train layouts with eerie horror and supernatural twists. Create mood boards and thumbnail sketches for each idea. After a quick empathy check with a real audience member (peer or community partner), collect reactions and notes to inform iteration. Build a Feasibility/Impact matrix evaluating each concept on scope, resources, and emotional impact, and select your Top 3 concepts with written rationales explaining how they meet audience needs. Compile outputs into a concept dossier for feedback and prepare to revise based on user input.

# What teachers do
1 Introduce the workshop and essential question, explaining the goals and materials needed. (10 min)
2 Form small groups and discuss initial ideas using the model train layouts and horror elements as inspirations. Develop at least three different concepts. (40 min)
3 Create mood boards and thumbnail sketches for each concept. Each group assembles materials to visualize the atmosphere and storyboard designs. (50 min)
4 Conduct empathy checks with a peer or community partner to collect initial feedback on each group's concepts. Note reactions and gather insights for iteration. (30 min)
5 Build a Feasibility/Impact matrix for each concept, assessing scope, resources, and emotional impact to select the top three ideas. Write rationales explaining selections. (40 min)
6 Compile ideas into a concept dossier for collective feedback. Groups present their top concepts and receive suggestions for improvement. (40 min)
