Concept Sketch Sprint

Students work in small groups to build a concept dossier addressing ocean noise pollution and cetacean hearing. They begin with empathy artifacts—maps and personas derived from field observations and National Geographic insights—to frame user needs. They conduct a rapid brainstorm (quantity over quality) to generate a wide range of intervention ideas, then translate the strongest ideas into concept sketches or storyboards. Each group creates a Feasibility/Impact matrix to weigh technical, logistical, and ecological considerations, and identifies their Top 3 concepts with a clear rationale. A brief feedback session with a guest aquarium staff member or teacher helps simulate user testing and informs iterative revisions.
