Students work in small groups to surface and organize research about the barriers San Diego high school students face in accessing internships, jobs, or volunteer opportunities. They gather direct input from users or reviews of existing research, craft a concise POV statement centered on the user, generate 4-6 How Might We questions, develop 2-3 student personas, and draft a simple problem tree or systems map illustrating root causes and key relationships. Groups prepare the outputs for peer and mentor feedback and plan a revision step in the next phase.

Student-facing instructions
You'll work in your groups to deeply explore the research you've gathered on barriers faced by high school students in accessing opportunities. Use this day to craft a Point of View statement that clearly articulates the problem from the user's perspective. You'll also create several 'How Might We' questions, design student personas, and develop a systems map to visualize these issues and their underlying causes. Prepare all your outputs to receive feedback from peers and mentors.
