Narrative Concepts Sprint

Content Expertise Effective Communication Self Directed Learning Critical Thinking & Problem Solving CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.11-12.3 Critique and Revision

Students conduct a brief interview with a peer or family member to uncover emotional and cultural connections to their chosen dishes, creating empathy artifacts (e.g., a quick persona or user needs map). They develop multiple concept ideas for their narrative Food Map and produce brainstorm documentation (quantity over quality), create concept sketches or storyboards for each idea, and build a feasibility/impact matrix to compare potential concepts. Each student selects their Top 3 concepts with written rationales and prepares to share findings for peer feedback in the next session.

Student-facing instructions
You will conduct interviews with a peer or family member about their emotional and cultural connections to specific dishes. Use this information to create a quick empathy artifact, such as a persona map. Then, brainstorm a variety of concept ideas for your narrative Food Map. Document your ideas and create initial concept sketches. Engage with team members to discuss feedback and refine your ideas.
