Geologic Time Expo

Groups collaboratively produce a comprehensive research article and supporting visual timeline that explain how the geological processes of their chosen time period transformed Earth's surface. The performance includes a written article and a 5- to 7-minute conference-style presentation with a Q&A, accompanied by a visual timeline. Students present a clear research question, describe their methodology and data collection, synthesize evidence from rock samples, fossil records, and dating techniques, interpret findings, and discuss limitations. The assessment aligns with MS-ESS2-2 and is graded with a rubric focused on Question Quality, Investigation Design, Data/Evidence Quality, Analysis & Interpretation, and Conclusions & Limitations. Submissions include the article, the visual timeline, and evidence of the presentation.
