Purpose

Students will engage in a dynamic exploration of pronouns across languages and cultures, focusing on their role in expressing identity and respect. Through collaborative digital presentations or videos, students will investigate how pronouns influence interpersonal interactions within their school community. By reflecting on their work and participating in a structured feedback loop, they will refine their understanding and presentation skills, fostering deeper learning and cultural awareness.

Learning goals

Students will investigate the cultural and linguistic significance of pronouns, understanding how they reflect and shape identity. They will develop skills in digital storytelling and presentation, collaborating to create a project that showcases diverse perspectives. Through critique and revision, students will enhance their ability to provide constructive feedback and refine their work, fostering a deeper appreciation for respectful communication and identity expression.

Products

Students will collaboratively create digital presentations or videos that explore the significance of pronouns across different languages and cultures, focusing on their role in expressing identity. Throughout the project, students will engage in peer reviews, offering constructive feedback to refine their work. By the end, each group will present their final product to the class, showcasing their understanding of pronouns and their importance in respecting individual identities within the school community.

Launch

Begin the project with an interactive cultural fair where students explore booths representing different countries and their linguistic practices, focusing on pronouns. Each booth will feature multimedia presentations, artifacts, and activities that highlight how pronouns are used in various languages to express identity and respect. Students will rotate through the booths, engaging in discussions and activities that prompt them to consider the cultural significance of pronouns and their impact on personal identity.

Exhibition

Students will host a multicultural language fair where they present their digital presentations or videos to peers, teachers, and family members. Each group will have a booth showcasing their findings on pronouns in different languages and cultures, complete with interactive elements like quizzes or games. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the students, ask questions, and provide feedback, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of linguistic diversity and identity.
