Purpose

The purpose of this learning experience is to enable students to explore and identify post-secondary options and career pathways that align with their interests and strengths. By engaging in hands-on workshops, interactive challenges, and discussions with industry professionals, students will gain practical skills and insights into various career clusters. This experience aims to foster cultural intelligence, build networks, and develop multilingual capabilities, empowering students to make informed decisions about their future careers.

Learning goals

Students will explore and identify their post-secondary options and career clusters, aligning their personal interests and strengths with potential career opportunities. They will engage with community partners to gain practical skills in resume building and interview techniques. Through a multimedia presentation, students will articulate their top three career interests and the pathways required to achieve them. The 'Career Pathways Escape Room' challenge will enhance their understanding of necessary skills and educational requirements for various careers. Finally, students will reflect on insights from professionals to refine their career aspirations.

Students will create a multimedia presentation that highlights their top three career interests, detailing the necessary educational pathways and how these align with their personal strengths and interests. Additionally, they will participate in a 'Career Pathways Escape Room' challenge, where they will collaboratively solve puzzles and complete tasks related to different career paths. Following the panel discussion, students will produce a written reflection that connects the insights gained from professionals with their own career aspirations.

Launch

Kick off the learning experience with a 'Career Pathways Escape Room' challenge. This interactive activity will have students work in teams to solve puzzles and complete tasks related to various career paths, using clues that highlight necessary skills and educational requirements. This engaging start will not only introduce students to different career clusters but also encourage collaboration and critical thinking, setting the stage for deeper exploration throughout the lesson.

Exhibition

Students will present their multimedia presentations at a "Career Exploration Showcase" event, inviting peers, teachers, family members, and community partners to engage with their findings. Each student will have a booth where they display their top three career interests, the pathways to achieve them, and how these align with their personal strengths and interests. Attendees can ask questions and provide feedback, fostering a supportive environment for students to articulate their career aspirations and insights gained from the lesson.
