Purpose

The purpose of this intensive is to equip students with the skills and experiences necessary to design and execute a comprehensive showcase that represents the diverse learning journeys of all intensives. By collaborating with community partners and engaging in hands-on workshops, students will develop project management, creative design, and communication skills essential for organizing a professional event. This experience fosters a sense of community and shared learning, encouraging students to reflect on their achievements and contribute to a dynamic, interdisciplinary showcase that celebrates their growth and collaborative efforts.

Learning goals

Students will develop advanced project management skills by organizing and executing a comprehensive showcase that integrates diverse learning experiences from various intensives. They will enhance their ability to collaborate effectively with peers, mentors, and community partners, applying creative design and strategic planning techniques to produce a professional event. Additionally, students will refine their communication skills through creating promotional materials and engaging with a wide audience, fostering a sense of community and shared learning.

Products

Students will develop a 'Living Portfolio' that showcases their learning journey through dynamic installations and live demonstrations, allowing for real-time audience interaction and feedback. Additionally, they will create a 'Showcase App' to guide attendees through the event, featuring interactive maps, project descriptions, and student reflections for a personalized exploration experience. These products will evolve throughout the showcase, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of the projects and engaging the community in meaningful dialogue.

Launch

Kick off the intensive with a 'Creative Convergence Workshop,' where students collaborate with local artists and event planners in hands-on sessions to explore innovative design and project management techniques. This immersive experience will ignite their creativity and set the stage for the showcase planning. Follow this with a 'Project Management Bootcamp,' featuring interactive simulations and role-playing exercises led by alumni mentors, equipping students with essential skills for executing a successful showcase.

Exhibition

Students will transform the school into an immersive experience by collaborating with local artists and businesses to create installations and performances that highlight the interdisciplinary nature of their projects. This 'Community Collaboration Expo' will feature dynamic exhibition spaces, including a 'Living Portfolio' with live demonstrations and interactive elements. Additionally, a 'Reflection and Celebration Symposium' will be organized, where students facilitate panel discussions and workshops, sharing insights and reflections on their learning experiences with community members.
