Purpose

The purpose of this project is for you to actively engage in developing and refining your volleyball skills and teamwork strategies through hands-on practice and peer collaboration. You'll create a strategic playbook, participate in a mini-tournament, and engage in reflective activities to enhance your understanding of performance accuracy, clarity, and expressiveness. This experience will help you build self-knowledge, establish a sense of belonging, and apply critical thinking to real-world challenges in sports.

Learning goals

Develop and refine your volleyball skills and teamwork strategies by creating and implementing a strategic playbook. Engage in self-assessment and peer feedback to monitor your progress and adjust your approach. Cultivate a deeper understanding of effective collaboration and leadership within a team setting by participating in a mini-tournament and presenting your strategic plan in a gallery walk. Analyze professional volleyball games to identify successful strategies and apply these insights to your practice sessions.

Products

Throughout this project, you'll create a strategic playbook that details your plan for improving volleyball skills and teamwork. This playbook will include diagrams of plays and strategies, which you'll refine through video analysis sessions and practice. By the end of the project, you'll present your playbook during a gallery walk, showcasing your strategic plan and receiving peer feedback. Additionally, you'll participate in a mini-tournament to apply your strategies and assess your performance using a self-assessment rubric.

Launch

Kick off your volleyball project with an interactive workshop where you and your peers participate in a series of team-building exercises that emphasize communication and collaboration. Follow this with a group brainstorming session to identify key volleyball strategies and skills you aim to develop. Conclude the launch by watching a highlight reel of professional volleyball matches, focusing on teamwork and strategy, to inspire your strategic playbook development.

Exhibition

Organize a gallery walk where you present your strategic playbook, showcasing your volleyball skills improvement plan with diagrams of plays and teamwork strategies. During the gallery walk, engage with peers by providing and receiving feedback on each other's presentations. Additionally, participate in a mini-tournament to demonstrate the strategies you've developed, applying them in real-time and reflecting on your performance and teamwork.
