The Challenge

World War I's intricate causes and profound consequences set the stage for future global conflicts, including World War II, while continuing to impact societal well-being today. The psychological toll on veterans underscores the need for robust mental health support systems, illustrating the lasting effects of war on individuals and communities.
Challenge Question
How did the consequences of World War I contribute to the conditions that led to World War II, and how can understanding these historical impacts help us address the ongoing challenges faced by veterans in accessing mental health services today?

Learning Partners and Clients

Students will collaborate with the Sheffield Historical Society to create a community project examining the local impact of World War 1 and its connections to World War 2. This partnership will guide students in researching local archives and conducting interviews with community members to uncover personal stories and societal changes, including how experiences from World War 1 influenced the community's response to World War 2. By working with the Historical Society, students will gain insights into how these wars reshaped Sheffield, MA, and present their findings in a multimedia format.
