How do we balance human needs with the long-term health of ecosystems?
This project explores the essential question, “How do we balance human needs with the long-term health of ecosystems?” Students will begin by investigating what ecosystems require to remain healthy and how humans rely on them for survival. From there, they will examine points of tension where human needs and ecosystem health come into conflict, analyzing real-world examples of both successful and harmful management practices. Finally, students will design and propose strategies that allow humans to meet their needs while protecting ecosystems for future generations, considering the role of individuals, communities, and global cooperation in building resilience and sustainability.
