"Personal Power-Up: Unleash Your Best Self!"

Purpose
This project aims to support teen moms in exploring and understanding their multifaceted identities beyond motherhood. Through hands-on activities and reflective practices, students will delve into personal development concepts such as self-concept, values, and character traits. The experience is designed to foster self-awareness and growth, enabling students to articulate their unique characteristics and set personal and developmental goals. By engaging in peer-led workshops, creative exhibitions, and storytelling events, participants will cultivate a deeper understanding of themselves and the role of support systems in their lives.
Learning goals
The learning goals for this project are to help students explore and understand their unique characteristics, enhance their self-concept and self-esteem, and recognize the importance of support systems in achieving personal and developmental goals. Students will also learn to identify and prioritize their personal values, develop effective communication skills, and appreciate diverse perspectives. By the end of the project, students will be able to articulate how their identities as individuals and mothers intersect, and how they can balance these roles while fostering personal growth and development.

Products
Students will create a 'Character Traits Mobile' to symbolize their personality and identity, displayed as a kinetic art installation. They will assemble an 'Identity Scrapbook' documenting personal development through photos, drawings, and reflections. A 'Life Balance Wheel' will visually represent how they manage personal growth, motherhood, and community. Additionally, students will design a 'Values Tree' with leaves representing core values, and a 'Life Story Box' containing objects signifying significant personal development moments, to be shared during the storytelling event.
Launch
Kick off the learning experience with a 'Personal Growth Adventure' day, where students engage in team-building activities that mirror real-life scenarios related to personal development. This interactive session encourages students to reflect on their strengths and areas for growth. Follow up with a 'Life Map Exploration' workshop, allowing students to create visual timelines of significant life events and aspirations, fostering a supportive community atmosphere. Conclude the launch with a 'Self-Concept Showcase,' where students share items or art that symbolize their self-concept, setting the stage for a journey of self-discovery and development.
Exhibition
Students will showcase their 'Portraits of Growth' gallery, featuring visual representations of their personal development journeys, focusing on self-esteem, values, and character traits. Additionally, they will participate in a 'Journey of Self' storytelling event, sharing narratives about balancing their identities as individuals and mothers. The 'Self-Concept Collage' workshop will allow students to display collages representing their self-concept and identity in a public space, inviting peers and teachers to explore and discuss their work.
