Products

Throughout the project, students will create multimedia presentations or video documentaries that analyze specific societal changes, incorporating interviews with community members. They will also develop a community storytelling project, collecting and presenting oral histories from local residents, culminating in a public exhibition. Additionally, students will design and implement a community service project, collaborating with local organizations, and present their experiences and outcomes through multimedia presentations and reflective journals at a community service project showcase.

Launch

Kick off the project with a dynamic 'Media and Movement Workshop' where students collaborate with journalists from the Durango Herald to create mock news segments. These segments will explore how media has influenced societal changes over the past two decades. Conclude the workshop with a group discussion, allowing students to share their insights on the role of media in shaping public perception and societal movements. This interactive launch will set the stage for deeper exploration and analysis throughout the project.

Exhibition

Students will host a public exhibition at a local library or community center, showcasing their community storytelling projects and multimedia presentations. This event will feature oral histories collected from local residents, highlighting significant societal changes they have witnessed. Students will also present their community service project initiatives, sharing outcomes and personal growth experiences through multimedia presentations and reflective journals. Community partners, such as the Durango Herald and the San Juan Mountains Association, will be invited to participate, providing additional context and support for the students' work.
